As I sat in the waiting area, I had a lovely chat with Jen, the Director of Marketing and Sales. She explained to me how the spa was founded in 1992 and actually started as an aromatherapy business. Over time, they merged into a medical spa, still maintaining their botanical roots. Jen was very knowledgeable (and SO sweet), and gave me the scoop on the service I was going to receive (the Hydrafacial MD). She also explained various other services the spa has to offer. 3000BC offers your basic massage and facial services and SO MUCH MORE… micro blading, lash extensions, micro needling, and dermaplaning just to name a few! Next, I made my way to the treatment area with the spa’s lead esthetician, Leigh-Ann. (LOVED her!) She explained the HydraFacial MD machine and all the different benefits of this amazing, resurfacing treatment. The Hydrafacial MD has been featured on The Real Housewives, and is not yet widely available in the Philadelphia region. The machine itself is very impressive, featuring a touch screen display to control all of its various functions. The machine cleanses, exfoliates, and extracts, all while simultaneously infusing powerhouse ingredients into your skin!
The treatment itself was painless and even a little relaxing. The process takes about 50 minutes, but flew by since I was having fun chatting with Leigh-Ann the whole time. Before using the machine, she cleansed my skin and used a warm towel to remove my makeup. Then it was right into treatment with the Hydrafacial
MD machine. Step 1 is exfoliation. This step is similar to microdermabrasion and removes all the dead skin cells. (Leigh-Ann told me many people are walking around with 10 layers of dead skin sitting on their face! Eeeek.) Step 2 is a glycolic/salicylic acid peel, for even deeper exfoliation, without the post-peel “flakies”! (Yay for that!) Step 3 is extraction via suction to deep clean the pores. Basically I had my pores vacuumed. Haha! Pretty awesome! Step 4 is infusion of all kinds of peptides, antioxidants, and my personal fave, hyaluronic acid. (If you are not using hyaluronic acid in your skincare regimen, you are totally missing out. Another post on that coming soon!) The coolest thing about this machine is there is a collection canister in the back that collects all the dirt and junk that comes out of your skin! I am super weird and gross, so of course I was SO excited to see what it looked like after my treatment. Well, apparently my skin was pretty clean (I’m pretty OCD when it comes to my skin), because Leigh-Ann said the water was possibly the clearest she’s ever seen! haha! She some sometimes the water is really dirty, and Jen told me that sometimes you can even see “floaters” in the water. So gross, but so cool at the same time. Leigh-Ann was amazing and I would highly recommend her to anyone! I’m picky when it comes to facials in general, and she was top notch. She really knows her stuff and is very experienced. 3000BC is my new go-to when it comes to facial treatments!
